Criminals often target homes, businesses, and vehicles that are vulnerable and possess the lowest risk. The majority of burglaries involve unlocked structures/vehicles and open garages/windows. It is important to keep doors locked and valuables out of sight. Keep garages closed when not in use.  Also keep areas well-lit and keep shrubs around a home or business from being overgrown. Keeping lights on a timer that varies on/off times is a good way to keep lights on even when you’re not inside.  It is also essential to help protect your community by reporting any suspicious activity as quickly as possible.

                                                             Reporting suspicious activity:

Call the non-emergency phone number: (614) 882-7444 and provide as much of the following information as possible:

  • Type of crime
  • Location
  • Description of suspect(s) or vehicle(s)
  • Direction of travel
  • Stay on the phone with the dispatcher until they tell you that you can hang up

If you arrive at your home or business and find it has been burglarized, DO NOT enter. Call the police immediately and go to a secure area.
