The Westerville Division of Police has a strong history of community partnership and engagement. A key component has been the support we provide through our community training programs.  These programs represent our continuing commitment to providing education on crime prevention, safety, and youth leadership to those we serve.  They include:

  • The Citizen Police Academy, a 12-week class designed to increase citizen awareness of the day-to-day operations of the Division through instruction on topics relative to the role of law enforcement in our community.
  •  Community Presentation Requests which can be requested by residents and local businesses
  • The D.A.R.E program, a life-skills based prevention effort focused on self-esteem, consequences, risk analysis, and decision-making skills which is taught in 11 Westerville elementary schools.
  • Human trafficking programming and resources
  • Youth Public Safety Academy (YPSA), an annual week long program developed for students age 14 and older & have graduated the 8th grade who have an interest in law enforcement or firefighting.
  • Public Safety Cadets Unit #6709, a work-site-based program for young men and women between 14 (have graduated the 8th grade) and 20 which helps youth develop responsibility, honest, and integrity.
