The Westerville Division of Police (WPD) is dedicated to responding to the needs of citizens, preventing crimes, and continually evolving to maintain the highest standards of service. Our mission is accomplished through the services and programs provided by our dedicated staff in conjunction with strong community participation and support.
Records of the first law enforcement official in Westerville date back to 1916, and today WPD serves the community of approximately 41,000 with an authorized strength of 80 sworn officers and over 30 civilians. Over the years, WPD has made great strides in building relationships with our community and spreading crime prevention awareness and education.
The WPD is led by Chief Charles Chandler and is comprised of 3 bureaus: Community and Professional Services, Patrol, and Investigative Services. Each bureau is headed by an assistant chief and supervised by lieutenants and sergeants. WPD is proud to provide a number of services and programs to fully serve and educate our citizens and our community.
